Interior of the first post office in Nowa Huta, A-1 Północ (Willowe) Estate. It opened in mid-1951. The interior, including furniture, columns with marble cladding, and marble tops, was designed by Marian Sigmund. At first, the building also housed the Inter-Union Workers’ Club’s head office (on the first floor). Clients were served on the ground floor, the sorting office and the flat occupied by the postman who was also the caretaker, were located on the first floor. There were urban and rural postmen; an urban postman would visit two thousand people a day. Initially, seven postmen worked at the post office. In the background: residential buildings designed by the Warsaw-based architect Franciszek Adamski. Late 1950s. Wnętrze pierwszego urzędu pocztowego w Nowej Hucie, na osiedlu A-1 Północ (Willowe). Poczta została otwarta w połowie 1951 roku. Wystrój wnętrza, m.in. meble, kolumny pokryte marmurową okładziną, marmurowe blaty, zaprojektował Marian Sigmund. Pierwotnie w tym budynku (na piętrze) miał swoją siedzibę również Międzyzwiązkowy Klub Robotniczy. Na parterze znajdowały się punkty przyjęcia klientów, a na piętrze m.in. rozdzielnia oraz mieszkanie służbowe listonosza, który był jednocześnie stróżem. Listonosze dzielili się na miejskich i wiejskich, norma listonosza miejskiego wynosiła 2 tysiące mieszkańców. Na początku pracowało 7 listonoszy.
